This oxymoron stated by Benedetta Barzini, Mila's official first model, perfectly defines her work and style.

Mila was born in Trogir, a small island off the coast of Croatia, but she moved to Milan after World War II, after marrying the jewel trader, Aurelio Schon.

After frequent visits to Parisian ateliers as a customer, she decided to put herself to the test, turning her passion for fashion into her career establishing her own company in 1958. The industriousness and innate sobriety of Milanese society, factors behind her creation of the elegance that shunned the ostentatious opulence of Rome’s high society and refused to indulge in the playful frivolity of Parisian society; a chic, functional combination of form and substance, so characteristic of object and fashion design in the 50’s.

The turning point of her career occurred in Florence when, invited by Marquis Giorgini, Mila Schon staged a fashion show at Palazzo Pitti in 1965 which was surprisingly successful, and Mila's fashion set off to conquer the world.
